Vulkan 1.3
Vulkan is an API that directly competes against DX12 (DirectX 12). On paper, these two may not seem that different, however, these APIs vary significantly when it comes to graphics programming. Over at khronos, almost every new and modern GPU supports Vulkan 1.3 and this includes the RX 7000 GPUs as well. Currently, the website has not revealed the names of any GPU although we do have a good idea by now. As for DirectX12, considering that even past generations supported this API, it is safe to assume that it will arrive with RDNA3 also.
RDNA3, What to Expect
AMD’s RDNA3 will offer a significant upgrade over RDNA2. Starting off, with a rearchitectured Compute Unit and the next generation of Infinity Cache, expect top-notch performance. Besides, the highest end offering has almost 2.4x more Shading Units than the 6950XT. If the architectural improvements scale properly, we can see almost 2x more performance. In addition, AMD have already stated that these GPUs can offer a massive 50% efficiency increase over RDNA2. Stay tuned as we will keep you updated as these GPUs unveil.
