The renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the iPhone 15 Pro versions in the next year would feature solid-state buttons and three Taptic Engines. As a result, the Power and Volume buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro models won’t have a clicky design and instead employ a solid-state construction. Apple used the Home button on the iPhone 7 as a comparable option.
Vibrator suppliers Luxshare ICT & AAC are undoubtedly the main buttonless design winners. Taptic Engine shipments will grow by 80-100% YoY in 2023, thanks to the buttonless design. — 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) October 28, 2022 In place of the mechanical design, the business used a solid-state button that did not depress when pressed. In addition to this, Apple used the same strategy to the Mac’s trackpad. Although the trackpad doesn’t really move, it simulates a click by providing haptic sensation. The iPhone 15 Pro variants might have the same solid-state buttons. In order to provide the haptic touch moving forward, Apple would need to add additional Taptic Engines. The left and right sides of the tablet will include Taptic Engines, which will provide haptic feedback when buttons are pushed. In the end, this will bring the total number of Taptic Engines up to three. Note that this is not the first time that information about the iPhone’s solid-state buttons has been revealed. The rumour, however, never came to pass. The iPhone 15 Pro’s water and dust resistance will be enhanced if Apple decides to use solid-state buttons. The “buttonless design and switch to USB-C are two of the major feature updates for iPhone 15,” according to Kuo, in a separate thread. As soon as further information becomes available, we will discuss the iPhone 15 Pro versions in greater depth.
